Becoming a PR Powerhouse

Over the past decade, my PR journey has taken me as far as the Middle East, and as high as advising the Government of Barbados in times of national crisis.

I saw an opportunity for businesses, organizations and governments to reshape their communications to be more connected with their listeners. Leaning heavily on my creative writing background as a multiple award-winning writer and published author, I consistently conceptualized new and inspiring ideas that resonate with consumers and increase engagement for brands.

Now, I've built up extensive experience working with renowned local and international brands, and share what I've learnt with the next generation of communicators through lecturing at the University of the West Indies.

Creative Writing

Award-winning Words

dae ft aprille-4-smooth_edited.jpg

My journey began with a chalkboard and a wild imagination. Writing gave me experience expressing complicated thoughts with simple words and learning to relate to people I've never even met.

The Sunday Afternoon Series of novellas was my first time experimenting with long format storytelling after years of poetry and short story writing. Creating relatable characters and realistic dialogue comes directly from my favourite pastime - people watching!

Growing up as an only child, I often made up imaginary siblings and neighbours who had their unique personalities and quirks.

I love to write poems that explore the unique Caribbean narrative, focusing especially on family and relationships. We have such a colourful story, begging to be told.

Some of my words have caught the eyes of judges and literary greats. But perhaps my most memorable moment in my relatively short career was being recognized with the Kamau Brathwaite award for Literary Excellence in poetry. The following year I was published in a journal Kamau oversaw... so unreal!
